Learning By Doing

Learning by doing is one of the best ways to get the clarity you need to make wise decisions.

Maybe it’s from all the stories about how, when my grandparents were broke during the Great Depression, the neighbors would call my dad and his brothers in for after school snacks.

Or the times my godfather took me to return empty 7-Up bottles, made of glass, for two cents apiece.

Or that I’m a sole earner with no partner’s income as backup.

It’s not like I’ve ever been destitute. I’m wealthy beyond anything my elders could have imagined.

Even so, before I make any significant investment, I want to be sure it’s right for me.

Sailing, Singing and Learning to Coach

I’ve wanted to sail, to quote Jimmy Buffett, “since I was three feet tall,” but my first move wasn’t to buy a boat. I invested in a single lesson.

I fell in love with the conservatory where I ultimately earned my masters degree when I was an undergrad, but I audited a class before I even applied.

I discovered Martha Beck (http://marthabeck NULL.com/) early in her tenure as an O Magazine columnist. I knew I wanted to enroll in her coach training after devouring Finding Your Own North Star, but it felt like an even bigger investment than grad school – emotionally if not financially – so I started with a two-day workshop.

Personal Investment

When I make a significant investment of time, effort and especially money, I want to be sure it’s right for me.

When folks invest in themselves by hiring me to be their coach, I want them to be just as sure.

That’s why I offer complimentary, 30-minute Learn More About Coaching calls for prospective clients.

It’s where you learn more about coaching with me by getting coached. By me.

Not by having me tell you stuff you can learn on my website or torturing both of us with a half hour sales pitch.

Learn More

Learn More About Coaching (https://florencemoyerllc NULL.acuityscheduling NULL.com/schedule NULL.php?appointmentType=148299) calls are your opportunity to learn about what it’s like to work with me by – wait for it – actually working with me, and they go something like this:

  • I’ll ask about your goals for coaching. You’ll talk. I’ll listen.
  • I might ask a clarifying question or two, then I’ll share a reflection on what I’m hearing.
  • If I’m on track, I’ll suggest something you can practice on your own after our call. If I’m not, you tell me, you talk more, and I listen more.
  • If I think we’re a good fit, I’ll tell you so. If not, I’ll suggest other courses of action for you.
  • If you think we’re a good fit, we confirm a plan to get you started.
  • If you need time to make a decision, we decide on a follow-up plan.

Wise Investments

Learning to sail, doing my masters where I did and becoming a coach were three of the biggest – and best – personal investments I’ve ever made.

I’m certain that getting clear before making those big moves was critical, not only in my success, but also my delight, in those investments.

Which is exactly what I want for you: the clarity to make smart decisions that lead to success and delight.

A Learn More About Coaching (https://florencemoyerllc NULL.acuityscheduling NULL.com/schedule NULL.php?appointmentType=148299)call is a perfect way to do that. Schedule yours now (https://florencemoyerllc NULL.acuityscheduling NULL.com/schedule NULL.php?appointmentType=148299).
